Irritable Bowel Syndrome Testing

This website is brought to you by Lab Care and dedicated to all English speaking people living in the Netherlands, who suffer from IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome). For a Dutch language website on the subject of Irritable Bowel Syndrome, please visit prikkelbaar darmsyndroom.

Lab Care is one of the few companies in the Netherlands specialized in identifying and diagnosing the cause of Irritable Bowel Syndrome. In many cases, Irritable Bowel Syndrome can be traced back to specific, treatable causes. Labcare offers a selection of laboratory test packages, which have been designed by a leading medical expert, to test for all the most common causes of Irritable Bowel Syndrome. Lab care also offers a full selection of individual lab tests.

Lab Care is specialized in intestinal diagnostics, and all testing is performed on stool samples. When you order a test, an envelope containing a feces collection container and packing material is sent to your home, where the stool sample is collected. The envelop can be sent in to the lab using the regular mail: the envelope will arrive allready including the correct addressing, postage and instructions.

A growing number of people who suffer from IBS have been able to identify causes of their symptoms through extensive laboratory testing. Unfortunately, many doctors are unfamiliar with the various physical causes of Irritable Bowel Syndrome, and tend to focus on psychological issues.

Psychological problems associated with Irritable Bowel Syndrome are actually often nothing more than symptoms – not the cause. Hormones affecting mood are produced in the intestines, so there is a clear mood / Irritable Bowel Syndrome correlation, especially when the cause of Irritable Bowel Syndrome affects the glands producing the mood hormones, such as serotonin.

Ordering a test is simple. Fill out the online order form and make payment before 4:30 PM (16:30 o’clock) Monday – Friday, and you will receive the test the next day. Please only submit the envelopes early in the week, as the lab is closed during the weekend.
